Penplusbytes, through the Ghana Anti-Disinformation Coalition (GADC) Project, will commence a two-day Media and Information Literacy (MIL) training for officers of the Information Services Department (ISD) to strengthen their capacity to verify information, communicate accurately, and counter mis- and disinformation.
The training is being held in two cohorts, with the first happening from 18th to 19th August 2026 and the second scheduled for 24th to August 2026 in Accra. The two-day training focuses on practical skills in fact-checking, media literacy, verification, plain-language communication, and responsible information dissemination.
Participants will explore how to simplify government and policy messages, adapt information for local-language audiences without distorting its meaning, and develop effective corrections and responses to false information. The training also addresses the importance of communicating complex information clearly without compromising accuracy.
A key component of the training is the onboarding of ISD officers onto the KasaGADI platform (www.kasagadi.ai), a multilingual and AI-powered fact-checking ecosystem. Participants will receive practical guidance on using the platform to submit and verify claims, including claims in local languages, and explore how the tool can complement ISD’s existing information verification and dissemination processes. The project also seeks to strengthen local-language verification and expand access to credible information while building the capacity of young people and local media practitioners to serve as reliable sources of accurate information.
The collaboration between Penplusbytes and the ISD is part of the broader Ghana Anti-Disinformation Coalition (GADC) Project, which seeks to address the spread and impact of mis- and disinformation in Ghana through collaborative action, localised research, capacity building, and technology-driven solutions.
The Ghana Anti-Disinformation Coalition (GADC) Project is implemented by Penplusbytes with support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Accra. The collaboration with the ISD further strengthens the project’s multi-stakeholder approach by engaging a key public information institution in efforts to promote accurate and reliable information.
