Who we are

A Ghanaian non-profit with a continental footprint.

Founded in Accra on 18 July 2001, Penplusbytes began by putting digital tools in the hands of African journalists and grew into one of the continent's most trusted voices on technology and good governance.

Our work spans four key areas: technology for good governance and accountability, new media and innovations, climate and wellbeing and oversight of mining, oil and gas revenues. Everything we do starts from one belief - informed citizens build accountable states.
